During the trip, our teachers and students visited the local architectural landmark Jiaxiu Lou, and learned about its name and significance. At the astronomy museum, the students learned about ancient Chinese astronomy, observing sundials and armillary spheres. They were impressed to learn that the world's earliest telescope was built privately, not by a government or large institution. The visit to the world's largest radio telescope, China's FAST (Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope), strengthened the students' national identity and appreciation for China's scientific progress. The students also empathized with the workers who built FAST, admiring their contributions.
This visit and exchange allowed the teachers and students to gain tremendous benefits, including a much deeper and more concrete understanding of the development and history of our motherland. Every student was filled with joy and satisfaction, and none were willing to leave.
